What Have I Done!!!

My Life So Far...

I started my working life at Blockbuster Video in high school. Ask me about the best movies from the late 90's and I'll have a few suggestions. After high school, I worked summers at the local golf course as a greens keeper, swapping into delivery jobs during winter months, saving up to pay for college. During and after college I had call center jobs. One was for dispatching building facility professionals out to fix issues for retail stores around the country - HVAC/Electric - while the other was for getting freelance workers information on insurance.

In every job, I learned something new, whether it was about a director's oeuvre, grass types, diagnosing combustion engine issues, the reason why there's three phases to A/C transmission lines, or logical fallacies in rhetorical arguments from listening to lecture series while deliver pizzas. Curiosity and kindness are core tenets to my understanding of how to exist in this world. I depended on the help of others to get me to where I am to this point. Friends I had growing up had interest in computers and coding, and my need to get a few more usable years my old Windows Vista college laptop led me to learning about Linux.

I was lucky enough to get trained in desktop support at Per Scholas, a free training program in the Bronx that now exists in Buffalo as well. That got me a foot in the door in the Tech industry, and eventually working with large corporations like IBM and Apple.

My passion has always been in thinking creatively, either putting together disparate ideas to synthesize solutions to issues in whatever venture I find myself. Currently, that's building a brand that shares my interests and sense of humor. As an urbanite, I want walkable cities, better biking infrastructure to avoid needing automobiles or public transit for going places. I'd like to think my aesthetic is palatable to the masses. I'm untrained in graphic design, but I think I my broad understanding of systems management helped me avoid needing subscriptions to Adobe or other proprietary tools. I'm an avid proponent of open source, and make use of that software whenever applicable. Using Inkscape as my primary tool for creating designs has been a journey, but a rewarding one.

I like to think my experience and varied interest make me a "jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one." I'm capable, hardworking, and will ask what some might think are dumb questions to make myself smarter.
